2011 Guidelines and Application
At this point we are full for the 2011 season. We will post the 2012 Application and Guidelines in February 2012..
The Lawrence Farmers' Market has four vendor categories:
The LFM is a growers' market-all fruit, vegetables, and meats are raised by the vendor. No reselling or peddling permitted. All new vendors will have a farm visit from the Market Coordinator or a LFM Board Member.
To sell baked goods, jams and jellies you do not need specific licenses. Home-canned products such as salsa and pickles are not permitted under Kansas Food Code unless a vendor has attended a weeklong processors school and has proper licensing.
Crafts are strictly limited to value-added agricultural products. For example, to sell a knit scarf, you would need to raise sheep, process their wool, spin it into yarn and finally knit the yarn into that scarf. The market does not currently accept applications for other artisan crafts such as paintings, jewelry or pottery.
Vendors will need to consult with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. Hot, ready to eat foods require a Licensed Mobile Unit -some type of cart or trailer that meets code. Check the links for contact info.
